Data We Collect
WindRider collects the following types of data to provide and improve our services:
- Location Data (GPS Coordinates): Collected during active navigation and ride tracking to provide route planning, turn-by-turn navigation, and track your rides. Location data is stored locally on your device and may be synced to your personal iCloud account if you enable iCloud sync. This data is essential for the app's core navigation and tracking functionality.
- Motion Sensor Data: Collected from your device's motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope) to provide riding analytics including lean angles, acceleration patterns, braking intensity, and cornering smoothness. This data is processed entirely on your device and is not transmitted to external servers. Motion data helps provide insights into your riding style and safety recommendations.
- Ride Statistics and Analytics: Data derived from location and motion data including distance traveled, duration, average speed, route performance metrics, and riding patterns. This data is processed locally on your device and stored locally or in your personal iCloud account.
- Route and Tour Data: Saved routes, waypoints, tour preferences, and route customizations. This data is stored locally on your device and may be synced to your personal iCloud account if you enable iCloud sync.
- App Settings and Preferences: Navigation preferences, display settings, tracking preferences, language settings, and other user configurations. Stored locally on your device and may be synced via iCloud.
- Usage Analytics (Optional): If enabled, we collect app crashes, performance metrics, and feature usage statistics to improve the app. This feature is disabled by default and can be controlled in the app settings.
- Contact Information: Information provided via support forms or emails when you contact us for support.
- Website Cookies: Essential cookies to remember your preferences on this website. Optional analytics cookies may be used with your consent.
How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- Navigation Services: To provide turn-by-turn navigation, route planning, and real-time GPS tracking
- Riding Analytics: To analyze your riding patterns, provide motion-based insights, and generate safety recommendations (all processed locally on your device)
- Route Management: To save, manage, and sync your tours and routes across devices via iCloud
- Performance Improvement: To improve app performance, fix bugs, and enhance features (only if usage analytics is enabled)
- Support Services: To respond to your support inquiries and provide customer service
- Service Updates: To send important service updates and notifications (if applicable)
Purpose and Legal Basis
We process your data to provide and improve our services. The legal bases are your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Storage and Transfer
Local Storage: All sensitive data, including location data, motion sensor data, and ride analytics, is stored locally on your device. This data remains on your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync.
iCloud Sync: If you enable iCloud sync, your routes, tours, settings, and location data may be stored in your personal iCloud account to enable synchronization across your devices. This data is stored in accordance with Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. iCloud data is encrypted and stored in data centers that comply with applicable data protection regulations.
Data Processing: All motion sensor data and analytics are processed entirely on your device. No motion data or analytics are transmitted to external servers or third-party services.
Geographic Storage: Your data stored in iCloud is subject to Apple's data storage policies. Where transfers occur outside the EU, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are applied.
No Third-Party Tracking: WindRider does not send your data to third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or data brokers. All data processing occurs locally on your device or within your personal iCloud account.
Data Retention
Local Data: Location data, motion sensor data, ride statistics, and analytics stored locally on your device are retained until you delete them through the app or uninstall the app. You can delete individual rides, tours, or all data at any time through the app settings.
iCloud Data: If you use iCloud sync, your data stored in iCloud is retained until you delete it through the app or disable iCloud sync. You can delete your iCloud data at any time through the app or by managing your iCloud storage.
Support Data: Contact information and support correspondence are retained for as long as necessary to provide support and resolve issues, or as required by law.
Usage Analytics: If enabled, usage analytics data is retained only for as long as necessary to improve the app and is not linked to your personal identity.
You can request deletion of all your data at any time by contacting us at privacy@adriank.app or by using the data deletion features in the app.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You can access all your data stored in the app through the app's interface or by requesting a copy from us
- Right to Rectification: You can correct or update your data at any time through the app settings
- Right to Erasure: You can delete your data at any time through the app or by requesting deletion from us
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can disable data collection features such as usage analytics, motion tracking, or iCloud sync at any time
- Right to Data Portability: You can export your routes and tours as GPX files at any time
- Right to Object: You can object to processing of your data for certain purposes
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe your data protection rights have been violated
Data Control: You can control data collection through:
- App settings to disable usage analytics, motion tracking, or iCloud sync
- Device privacy settings to control location services and motion & fitness access
- In-app deletion features to delete individual rides, tours, or all data
Data Deletion Requests: You can request deletion of all your data at any time by contacting us at privacy@adriank.app. We will process your request within 30 days.
Note: Disabling location services or motion & fitness access will limit the app's navigation and analytics functionality, as these permissions are essential for core features.
Third-Party Services
Map Services: WindRider uses Apple Maps for map data and navigation services. When you use navigation features, Apple Maps may process location data in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing Apple's Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles location data.
iCloud Services: If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, which is subject to Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. Data stored in iCloud is encrypted and managed by Apple.
No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising: WindRider does not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or data brokers. We do not share your personal data, location data, or motion sensor data with third parties for advertising, analytics, or any other commercial purposes.
Service Providers: We may use service providers for essential app functionality (such as hosting this website), but we do not share your app data with these providers. Any service providers we use are required to maintain appropriate security measures and data protection standards.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication methods, and regular security assessments.
Children's Privacy
WindRider is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@adriank.app and we will delete such information promptly.
If you are between the ages of 13 and 18, you may use WindRider with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. We recommend that parents and guardians monitor their children's use of the app and help them understand the importance of safe riding practices.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes.
